Hello friends.

Today I found out how much Murphy's Law is in full effect.

just as I am in financial lockdown mode, Weta Workshop launches its new tabletop miniatures game, as seen here:

https://youtu.be/TU3q_rXMHz8 and http://gkrgame.com/

KickStarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/we ... vy-hitters

sadly, the basic core box KS buy-in is $99.

:| figures. :|

"Don’t Quit."

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

- Author Unknown.

Not quitting. Just tired.

Go paint something & post it.

and Stay Safe Out There.

Hello Friends.

I'm still in Full ON job search mode.
...lotsa nibbles, very little return.

but it was so nice the other day (70F), that I did take a break to paint something.

I managed to primer white 8 Mechs, several of which I'll use to complete my

Kuritan 8th Sword of Light battalion. I think I have my full 36 Mechs now,

just need to include a command lance and a Kuritan specific aerospace squadron.

but mostly, I'm job-hunting.

...but I PAINTED!

stay safe out there, y'all.

Hello Readers.

I hope y'all are having a good weekend.

Mine hasn't started yet, but my plans include hauling things for the local high school percussion group.

I wanted to follow up with my status on painting up a battalion for the
Kuritan 8th SoL.
Paint scheme, courtesy of Camo Specs Online: http://camospecs.com/Miniature/Details/ ... et-cplt-c1
Psycho's work:

Well, I've segregated 40 Mechs (3 companies + a command lance)and now have all of them primered and most are clad in a red base coat.
Additionally, I've selected the F-90 Stingray as the aerospace fighter for this battalion. I managed to find 6 for a complete squadron. So they are next in line for painting.

When I have the force done, I'll probably create a separate thread for them.
but I will have some teasers here, too.

In the meantime. Go paint something yourself.

and
Stay Safe Out There.

Hello dear Readers.

Tonight, you get a full article complete with pictures, for those of y'all who are alphabetically challenged.

First: good news. I am gainfully employed again.
After nearly two months of hunting, I'm back to being a DoD contractor again.

This week, my best friend and bride drug me along to some corporate training.
...well, SHE went. I goofed off and relaxed at a nice hotel.
it was my only break in the job hunting process.
but it didn't work.
I found my job while on my 'vacation'. :thumleft: :D

So where did we go? here's hints:

...yes. we went to Virginia Beach. It was nice, but immediately clouded up when we got to the beach. Murphy's Law.

I do have to give a shout out to JUST CUPCAKES. you've seen them on Food Network.
THIS mild mannered looking assemblage is a CUP-SHAKE.

Image

it is 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream dropped into a blender with a whole cupcake of your choice. This is triple chocolate peanut butter.

 Oh My [censored][censored][censored] it's un-[censored] believeable and so [censored][censored][censored] awesome and [censored] insanely [censored] delicious.
If I had stood the cup on my head, my tongue would've punched a hole in my skull to get to this [censored][censored][censored] awesome treat.

if you go to Virginia Beach, I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to visit and sample.

...oh. yeah. :|
I also visited three FLGS while there.
there will be another post about them.

but here's a teaser:
THIS box of metal crack includes a BD Marauder complete and some other BD goodies.
Image
... and it's an awesome FLGS.

more to come soon.

Paint something. Stay Safe Out There.

Hello y'all.

Life proceeds at its own pace: blistering w/ a double helping of stress.

I haven't completed any painting except for the 'home improvement' type.

The commute to my new job:

Image
has necessitated the purchase of a high MPG beater car...

2001 Ford Escort. but my paint is bleached out and faded.

Image

But it is still getting 30+ MPG.

Sad news here locally: the GAME VAULT of Fredericksburg has closed its doors after 22 years in business. I'm certain CJ Keyes is devastated... I'm told it was his primary FLGS.

There may be good news on the horizon.. I'm told there is a new store opening, but I haven't verified that yet.

I'm still planning to make HISTORICON, so I hope to see some of y'all there.

for now.

Paint something.
and Stay Safe Out There.

Hello y'all.
Wow. almost two months.
 sorry

also, Photobucket hates me. I can't hotlink anything anymore.
so I'm looking for another service.
? suggestions ?

I did make it to HISTORICON 2017. Had a blast.
My princess won 1st place in the Youth category of the Wargames Illustrated Painting contest: for the second year in a row.
Next year, she has to compete against the adults.

I have pix of Historicon and Fredericksburg's newest hobby gaming store...
and I'll post them as soon as I don't have to deal with Photobucket.

The Kuritan SoL battalion didn't make it to Con this year. I realized I'm all out of their specific decals ... and/or I can't find the ones I bought.
So I'm in the process of ordering more.

CJ Keyes was at Con this year and ran two awesome scenario games. PROPS CJ! :thumleft:
He also directed me to an alternate source for hex bases.

WARSENAL. that is https://warsen.al/
They sell MDF and Acrylic templates, tokens and bases at extremely good prices.
*Fair Notice*
I've purchased their product, and I'm NOT being compensated for this FYI review.
round bases, square bases, clear acrylic flight bases w/posts...
HEX bases! I got 100 count of the 35mm wide & 3mm thick hex bases for $20!
with shipping, it was less than $25.
https://warsen.al/collections/bases/pro ... 0544035277
Warsenal even stocks the "official-sized" 28mm hex bases. You can get 100 of those delivered for $20. I'm considering their flight bases & rods: $50 for a hundred.
unfortunately, acrylic aint cheap.
They have some kick-arse terrain for sale, too.

At this time, I don't have any new painting projects to start...
still too many "in progress"
..but I am helping Son&Heir paint up a British tank company for an upcoming Flames of War tourney.
I promise I'm not painting. I'm just supplying primers, correct shades of spray paint, a can of clear coat, and lots of suggestions.
but I'm not painting. I don't even play Flames of War.

anyway. it was nice to catch up y'all.
stay in touch.
paint something.
Stay Safe.

Greetings folks.

I hope August has found everyone doing well and enjoying their summer.

Mine has gone sorta well enough.

But August has been a cast iron witch on the automotive front.

Massive repair and maintenance bills... nearly $3500 spent on two vehicles.

the Son&Heir's Saturn Vue was the cause for majority of costs.

Image

the thing is a MASSIVE lemon.
In the nearly 3 years we've owned it, its maintenance costs AVERAGE $150 a month.
No more Saturns for us.
*EVER*
Image
Image

...anyway... I'd like to, but Spousal Unit reminds me that we should get SOME trade-in value for that PoS.

so.
paint something.
and Stay Safe out there.
