Like everything else the FOIS likes to create their own variant of battlemechs with the most popular mechs or unpopular units making them worthwhile to have in any unit.

The King Crab is no exception however like everything else they do they add their own twist to the machine.

One of the new features of their King Crab is the more refined Modular system that allows more flexibility in the machines.

This system allows for quick swap weapons & components making it easier for repairs or field replacement parts such as the arms, weapons, & ammunition for those modules.

This system though does not allow armor repair on the torsos, legs, or head. The armor on the arms are the only armor replacement as the whole arm must be replaced.

With the modular system everything is a ‘plug’ in and forget system as long as the mount is not damaged such as the shoulder being damaged or destroyed preventing any quick arm replacement and the whole assembly to be removed and replaced which would require the machine to be down longer than a normal battlemech as the modular system is more complex and advanced than any other system.

Along with the new system the King Crab Also comes with an armored cover for the Cockpit that would close over the glass in an event of cracked glass due to damage adding extra protection and prevents spacing, or water to enter the cockpit protecting the pilot, though this protection isn’t much. With the cockpit protected by the armored cover it prevents the view of the battlefield, this however is fixed by the image of the battlefield being projected on the glass giving a more detailed viewing of the battlefield than by normal which also means they have a full 360 view if they so chose to activate it once the cockpit is enclosed.

Because of the battlefield projection clarity most have the cover in place before entering battle. However this comes with the risk of going ‘blind’ should the many micro cameras and sensors mounted all over the body be damaged or destroyed.

Like all of the modular mechs their cost goes up by 20%, though the techs would be trained by the FOIS to allow them to repair, replace, and get them use to replacing the arms not far from the fighting.

If a lance or more is bought then two replacement arms per machine is included along with the equipment to replace damaged modular components or quick ammunition drums replacement for the battlefield as a free bonus instead of having to buy everything on their own.


Modular configurations:

KGC2-XJ:
the Long range jumping unit that mounts three Long Range missile rack 15 modular systems with a large ammunition drum holding 24 rounds for each weapon while backed up by two medium lasers.

KGC2-XW:
This one comes with twin mech killer Assault Cannons which comes with two tons of solid shell ammunition drums allowing it to stay in the fight longer. It comes with two token Light Long Range Missile packs and twin Medium Lasers for backup weapons.

KGC2-XP:
All of its ballistic weapons and secondary weapon systems have been replaced with a trio of Thunder Struck PPCs, and Large Laser allowing it to stay away from supply lines longer.

KGC2-WC:
The WC is a pure city combat unit coming with Jump Jets, Assault Cannon, Large array of SRMs, and backed up by Medium Lasers.


Extra Information:
Any unit built with the latest Modular system would later on be able to mount the newest technology except for light/extra light engines incompatibly, though some minor Clan Technology such as some ballistic weapons, Missiles, and energy weapons can be installed with a little adjustment of the system.

However there is a limit as to how many non-Inner sphere weapons that can be mounted as there would be a large chance of energy failure which would force the engine to shut down and damaging the Modular systems as they are unable to fully handle the huge power demands that the Clan technology would require.

With the later addition of Omni technology the FOIS modular system might be phased out entirely or kept around to be sold as a poor man’s omni mech as it would still be cheaper than an Omni machine.
