Tada! BTU gets a facelift

Post by Odysseus » Fri May 04, 2007 6:31 pm

Yep, you saw right. The BTU forum has had a nice facelift. I am much happier with this new look. I'm not 100% complete transfering over the custom features from the old style into this new one, but I'm getting there.

If you notice any bugs or anything out of place, feel free to let me know!

Edit: While I'm at it, I may officially announce the launch of our new logo, something you've inevitably seen already. Here's a larger shot:

Gah! Give us some warning next time! I was posting over in the design hall with the old look, and when the post comes up, it's with the new look! More then a little disconcerting!

But the new look is great. I like it.

I really like the new look, but would it be possible to put back the links for 'posts in last 24 hours' and 'posts in last 48 hours'?
Thanks,
Prophet

My thoughts exactly!

One other thing, the upper golden line is somewhat out of place, if you ask me. Pls make it go away :(

Oops, forgot about the "last posts" links. I'll get those put back. I'll see how it looks without the yellow bar.

Zac, what icons need changing?

Also, I edited the first post with the new logo as well.

Its personal preference really i guess but im really not overly fond of the skull icon to represent a locked thread, i still think a padlock icon would still be far more in keeping, also the no new topic icon could be the BTU mech with a cross marked through it. And also the edit tags for the staff members i think they should be yellow as the white kind of merges in with the topic thats been posted, just a few thoughts. :) zac

Ok, instead of a blank square when theres no new posts, I have a black outline of our signature mech. Do you like this better than the blank square? Personally, I don't. Theres too many "mechs" now.

Overall it looks good, but I HATE this orange box that covers all of the forum windows. It just looks really ugly. And kinda puts me off a bit.

But asides from that I love the new look.

I think the new site looks great! Will look better once you get the little bits done. BTW, I know you are trying to stay with the regiment's colors on the fansite, but can you brighten up the grey lettering/ I kinda blends in with the black background. Some of us old farts can't see too well!

Could you put the "Mark all topics read" button back on the main Forum page please?

WOW

the facelift looks good, ODY - I understand you're still tweaking things...

the big yellow bar I could do without.

as for topics that are 'old': how about using the original 'crosshairs' logo?

My only complaint:

Now I hafta to order new t-shirts...

Can you shrink the mech logos to about 60-75% of their current to narrow the width of the bars across?

can you make the "New PM" message a little more eye catching? I almost missed the one that I had.
