Summer Art Contest: Gray Noton

Post by IAMCLANWOLF » Mon Jul 07, 2008 12:16 pm

There has been much speculation surrounding the legend of Gray Noton, Champion of Solaris. Did he pilot a standard Rifleman 3N, a special home brewed variant, or a Royal SLDF Rifleman II? Without any concrete evidence we are left to wonder what Gray’s Rifleman really looked like.

Your mission should you accept it: Illustrate Gray Noton's Rifleman.

Did Noton pilot a standard 3N? Did he work with an outside contractor to redesign a custom Rifleman Chassis? Or did Noton actually own one of the SLDF Royal variants? It is up to you to set the record straight. For this contest you will Illustrate Gray Noton’s Rifleman in the configuration you believe he used to become the champion of Solaris for seven consecutive years...

Question: Are we forbidden from using the Unseen Rifleman as a basis for Grey's 'Mech?

No not at all, in fact I encourage you to use the unseen Rifleman as the basis for Grey's machine... 8)

Few questions for the penut gallery.

Does the mech has to be a full framed in the image, (Like a TRO image) or can it be part of an "illustration" like image, where we can crop, use extreme perspective angles at our own descression?

Also, I'm sure all of us are familiar with the description of Grey's symbol, but is there any cannon illustration of it out there so we can be sure to be accurate? And if so, where can we find it?

Extreme perspective would be an excellent choice, also feel free to crop the image as you so desire to enhance the composition.

only 2? In that case, can I crop the top part of my drawing down a bit so it focuses on the better drawn parts? :D

Seriously, I cut the top part off and the image looks MUCH better.

Well you saw what I had gotten done on mine. It just came down to time and RL overload. Can I go ahead and post the parade rest version ?

Maybe You'll give us an extension? If a 2 weeks extension will be granted I'll get in. However, I think another person or two should enter (4 or 5 pics).

I am ok with a two week extension, but it needs to be ok with the other person that got his entry in on time (f15cflyer).

Ryan, feel free to crop and resubmit your image, and let us know if the two week extension is ok with you.

So it seem we are good to go, personally I would be happy if another person will submit an entry for the competition. The art competitions I remember had up to 9 persons in them. Most still visit the site. Anyone who can hold a pencil should give it a try. After all, nobody is judging you

I had the contest in mind but I've been too swamped with RL work. Though I should have some time after this friday so maybe I can get something together.
