Fall art contest - voting is over.

Post by shalom itay » Sat Nov 21, 2009 9:56 am

Hello to all!

After about a month and a half of hard work by many devoted BTU members we are proud to present the
fine work that composes this year Fall art contest.
Personally I'm glad that we managed to bring 7 works by 6 people.
This is the right step back to "the good all days", when we had alot of "eye candy" to enjoy.

The focus of this contest is the "Nose Art" itself, everything else is considered atmosphere.

The rules:

1. The voting will last 14 days and will end at 5/12/09 (12/5/09).
2. Voters should be registered BTU's members prior to the start of voting (i.e 21/11/09).
3. The 3-point-system for rating will be used (1st - 3 points, 2nd - 2 points, 3rd - 1 point) and the voter must rate 3 entries, no less no more.

Now, this is more of a request then a rule, but if each voter could write a positive description of why he choose to vote for each picture - This will be highly appreciated. It only takes a few minutes :)

And now for the submissions (presented in the order received):

Lets be respectful and keep this a positive experience for all. Please keep the negative comments you yourself. Many people have sacrificed much to be able to even submit an entry. We don't need to hear that you think some entries are "poor" examples.

The idea is to give positive feedback so that we can get more entries in the future...

I'll repeat what I've written in the opennig post:

"Now, this is more of a request then a rule, but if each voter could write a positive description of why he choose to vote for each picture - This will be highly appreciated. It only takes a few minutes"

For the above reasons.

Well done guys, all reasonably nice looking enteries but in the end i went with quality and the effert that i felt went into each pieces to make my selection . :) zac

1st - Entry No.4---- A classic style which looks pretty effective in general.

2nd - Entry No.6---- Just because the amount of time and effert that has clearly been spent on produceing this entry.

3rd - Entry No. 7----Again a very classic concept, but i feel its not fully completed but has been entered due to the deadline which i think is a shame as this entry oozes quality.

1st - Entry #3- It is mean

2nd - Entry #2- I think sums up the theme, smart-alecky private always getting in trouble showing his dislike for the punishment of painting the CO's ride.

3rd - Entry #7- Like the classic feel of it

Good job to all!!

All entrants will receive a blue participation ribbon for taking the time and making the effort into submitting something for this contest. We usually enjoy reading others comments on most things however that strongly depends on how the criticism was meant to be perceived in the first place.
Constructive criticism and comments are usually welcome by most our members here on BTU, however there is a right and a wrong way how someone should go about posting them, and it appears you still need quite a bit more practice with your diplomatic skills. Your comments although informative were ill worded and to be honest quite harsh when there was really no need.
If a member has taken the time and effort into submitting a piece of work for a contest they usually feel proud of their entry and expect it to do well otherwise they simply wouldn’t have enter it in the first place, so to achieve this the entrant has to have done the best they could to produce their entry which im sure must have involved a lot of time and effort.
So when they have to endure other members slashing opinions and poorly worded comments sure they are going to take them to heart, all I have to say is if you or any other member intends to leave comments in future competitions just take a moment out to think about the content before you actually post them up ie: (is this going to cause offensive or maybe I could word it this way as it’s not so direct and does sound far better….,) also there is really no need at all for bitter and belated sarcasm…..

1st: #5 - Because I love swords and who hasn't wanted to slice and dice some pirates?

2nd #4 - I'm a Davion fanatic, and I know a guy who worked on Roger Rabbit :)

3rd #7 - Looks really nice but a tad bit unfinished, especially around in the foot area but still beautiful.

Great work to everyone
