When I get more time, I will post rules for them.
later, rules ideas for: ‘Mech items: Bolas, Shovels, Explosive Shurikens, Explosive Boomerangs, Lassos, Throwing Ammo, Armordomes
Bolas: A ‘Mech must have a functioning shoulder actuator, upper arm actuator, lower arm actuator, and hand actuator per bola thrown. Follow the rules for a punch attack, but any bola(s) thrown does (or do) entangling and/or damage instead of any arm(s) used to throw said bola(s) .
A Vehicular Shovel: uses the rules for handheld weapons for purposes of being carried and armored; can be used to lift and/or carry a maximum number of tons per game turn equal to its mass multiplied by four.
A Vehicular Explosive Shuriken has: a center hole; a number of bullets or Autocannon shells or explodable Gauss Rifle shells each radially symmetrically protruding from said Vehicular Explosive Shuriken;
An Explosive Boomerang is a boomerang with an explosive mounted in it.
A Vehicular Lasso is made from a metal cable wire.
Ammunition That Can Be Thrown
An Armordome is armor that follows the rules for a trailer for purposes of movement and/or to be carried. An Armordome surrounds a ‘Mech except when a door of it is opened. An Armordome has seven locations (six hex sides and top) . LOS cannot be traced through any armor and/or through any internal structure of said Armordome.

When do I “retreat” ? Only when I want to re+treat myself to eating cookies here in VT of USA. Here in VT, outside temperatures can get very cold; I suppose my miniatures won’t get overheated, ha ha.

maybe for infantry combat, but not for Mech combat.
Re: ‘Mech items: Bolas, Shovels, Explosive Shurikens, Explosive Boomerangs, Lassos, Grenades
A ‘Mech throwing a bola as an attack called low at another ‘Mech’s legs, can get that latter ‘Mech to trip and fall to be an easier target to attack in next consecutive game turn. A ‘Mech could use a shovel to: dig a trench for partial cover, put snow on a grounded Aerospace Fighter to reduce its current heat level, or to pile leaves onto units to hide them. A ‘Mech could throw explosive shuriken(s) or explosive boomerang(s) through smoke while a spy spots target(s). A ‘Mech could throw a boomerang with camera over trees to observe possible battlefield. A slow superheavy ‘Mech could use a lasso to stop faster ‘Mech from sprinting. A ‘Mech could throw grenades while body down (hull down) in a trench and over trees.

Shovels, yes. entrenchments yes.
Dump snow on an ASF? oh HEK no.
spreading leaves? perhaps on an entrenched unit that was de-magnetized, powered down and cold.
as for throwing things... not really a thing.
Mechs are highly capable, but in BattleTech, they aren't as nimble as MACROSS or GUNDAM.
Trust me. I've sat at Panel Discussions with official authors and Line developers when similar subjects came up.
+if the Mech is throwing, it must have Hands. It also cannot have fired any weapon in the arm doing the throwing.
Theoretical Weapons thought Experiment:
IF a "grenade" is equal to a single round of AC10 ammo, then it weighs 200 lbs.
On a 50 ton Mech, an arm can bear 1300 lbs. of weight.
so, 1300/200, rounding down = 6 hex range of throw.
but NOW, since a grenade is an area affect weapon, impact must be figured like an Arty shot.
10 pts of damage in target hex (in two pt. chunks) 5 pts of damage in surrounding hex (in 1 pt. chunks) and 1 pt. of damage at the hex outside that.
but since it LANDS like artillery, using artillery scatter rules, it is quite POSSIBLE to toss a grenade and do damage to yourself.
Also, as it is a THROWN grenade, the "ammo" must be stored externally on one location.
If Mech gets hit on a grenade bandolier, that is 100 pts of damage in ONE location.
*ouch*
honestly, I'd rather just have an AC10 in my arm.

Re: ‘Mech items: Bolas, Shovels, Explosive Shurikens, Explosive Boomerangs, Lassos, Grenades
I was thinking AC shot(s) could each be thrown like a football to target(s) , not necessarily respective. If I remember carrectly, TO has rules for throwing.

Correct. thanks to TOS, ""there ARE throwing rules (TacOps pages 92-99)"
I unfortunately, don't have my TacOps unpacked from the move yet.
So I can't clarify with chapter and verse.

Re: later, rules ideas for: ‘Mech items: Bolas, Shovels, Explosive Shurikens, Explosive Boomerangs, Lassos, Throwing Amm
I got to get new updated Tactical Operations Rulesbooks before I complete taptyping rules above.
A thrown ‘Mech Bola attack called high, of which the Bola Spheres can open to spill superpolymers, could entangle a ‘Mech’s arms.
A ‘Mech, that is hidden in smoke, could throw shurikens, boomerangs, or ammunition as quiet sneaky attacks.
Could thrown ammunition be destroyed by any target’s AMS(es) or Laser AMS(es) ?
